History has it that Lord Fredrick Lugard, the British Colonial master, started living in the present day Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, around 1912 and this building is where he lived.

To ease his stay and facilitate his trade in the region, he also built a network of structures which today are historical sites including  his administrative office, the native authority building and his kitchen, the Beach Garden and others. According to history, this “must visit” tourist location was built almost 112 years ago. Ikot Abasi is about one hour drive from the city centre of Uyo the capital of Akwa Ibom State.
